Big thanks to Germany's big breakfast show ZDF Morgenmagazin for having Wallis Bird in yesterday morning. Wallis performed 'As The River Flows' and 'That's What Life Is For' from her latest album Woman. You can catch Wallis perform this weekend in the GLORIA THEATER on Feb 1st and Kulturzentrum Tollhaus Karlsruhe on Feb 2nd.
Wow! Anais Mitchell - Grammy Winner! So proud of Anais Mitchell and the whole Hadestown team for winning Best Musical Theatre Album at the Grammy Awards last night. It's been such a long journey bringing Hadestown to Broadway, picking up so many Tonys along the way last year. What a start to the week!
Anais quoted these lyrics when accepting the award: “Orpheus was a poor boy but he had a gift to give us / there was one song he was working on he could never seem to finish / a song about this broken world, that he rewrote again and again / as tho if he could find the words, he could fix the world with them.”
Anais Mitchell’s latest project Bonny Light Horsemann (a folk super group of sorts according to Rolling Stone Magazine) are heading out on tour starting Jan 21st. The trio will hit the North-East and West coasts of America with dates in Glasgow and London along the way. We are very excited for Wallis Bird to perform A Woman's Heart with The RTE Concert Orchestra in February. A Woman's Heart is Ireland biggest selling record of all time...so this is going to be a fun one! Wallis will take to the stage alongside Irish legends Eleanor McEvoy and Maura O'Connell to perform this historic album in its entirety.
This Sunday January 12th, Hundreds will take to the stage of Elbphilharmonie Hamburg for a special performance accompanied by the Berlin Strings. The SOLD OUT show, named ‘Hundreds In A Decade’ will celebrate the bands 10 year anniversary.
Thanks 2019! We had an amazing year with great releases, festivals and tours; a hit Broadway show, various awards and nominations, music appearing on TV shows, Ads, chart entries and most of all: great music and inspiring people that we have the honour of working with, and for whom art truly matters. Several of our artists released successful albums this year that we’re very proud of; and some are working on new albums for next year; our artists played over 400 festivals and shows across the world; ‘Hadestown’ became a hit show on Broadway and swept away the Tony awards; our other sister company LYA - Love Your Artist is working with over 150 artists, festivals and local promoters for a fairer and more transparent ticketing and merchandise market. And our other sister company, Heavy German Shit, has had a great year working with talented TV personalities and promoting great international comedians!
Thanks to everybody within the Karakter family for working with so much passion and heart for our artists and projects; thanks to all of our business partners who work hard together with us; and most of all: thanks to our artists and to the fans who this music makes a difference to. From the 3rd - 5th January, Wallis Bird will perform at a three day festival called 'Women's Christmas' which is used to raise funds for the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre.
It'll be a weekend of music, spoken word and comedy with a female focused lineup.
What: Wallis Bird will headline a special performance of "A Woman's Heart", Ireland biggest selling album! This is the first time the album will be performed live in full. Wallis will be performing alongside original songwriter Elenor McEvoy and the RTE Concert Orchestra.
